John Cena's Upcoming Show "American Grit" Gets First Trailer

Word on when the show will debut and FOX's high hopes for the series.

As we noted last Fall, John Cena was away from WWE for approximately two months (the end of October until the end of December) to film an upcoming reality show for FOX television. At the time, it wasn't known what the show would be titled, what it would be about, or when it would air, but reports indicated the show would have something to do with fitness. We've known for a little while now that the Cena project will be titled American Grit, and we can now report on when the series will be making its debut. A merican Grit is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, April 14th. The series will air following Bones, a series that has been on the air since 2005 and will be returning for an 11th season this Spring. Bones has a very dedicated fan following, so it should be a good lead-in for a new show like American Grit which will be trying to gain some traction. John Cena revealed the first teaser trailer for the show on his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon. https://twitter.com/JohnCena/status/697548354838884352 The plan is for American Grit and Bones to fill the Thursday evening vacancy left by American Idol, which is currently in the midst of it's final season. FOX has high hopes that Cena can be a crossover star in entertainment and bring in a sizable audience for the new show on Thursday nights.
