Dave Meltzer has reported on the Sunday morning edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that John Cena's opponent for this year's WrestleMania will be none other than his verbal sparring partner from last year's event, Elias.

Over the last few weeks the internet has been speculating constantly about who the 'Leader of the Cenation' will be taking on at this year's Show of shows. Well, speculate no longer because all arrows look to be pointing towards the former 'Drifter' taking up the mantle.

Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez were discussing who Cena's opponent could be on the show and the conversation went as follows.

Meltzer: Cena is going to wrestle at WrestleMania this year.

Alvarez: Who’s he wrestling?

Meltzer: I’ll tell you tomorrow because I actually have been told but it’s not like I don’t believe it because I know that it’s probably true. But, I can’t believe it. Put it that way. It’s so underwhelming that it’s ridiculous. And absolutely confusing and makes no sense.

Alvarez: Sounds like either Corbin or Elias.

Meltzer: Ok. It’s not Corbin. So there you go. The mentality is that he’s going to get the rub from losing to John Cena. You know that they think that way. I actually think that they’re going to come… [to their senses], somebody is going to wake up and go ‘what the hell is this?’ And it will change. But that is the match listed right now.

The angle is expected to be put into motion when Cena appears on the February 28 episode of SmackDown.

Are you excited about the prospect of Cena and Elias building on their 'Mania rivalry from last year? Or would you have preferred the Hollywood superstar to have taken on 'The Fiend' or Goldberg, as rumoured?
