Keith Lee defeated Adam Cole in the main event of the second night of NXT's Great American Bash special event.

The 'Limitless' star ended the record-breaking 403-day reign of the Undisputed Era leader with the Big Bang Catastrophe to earn victory in a "Winner Take All" main event that also saw Lee's North American Title up for grabs.

Pyro and confetti rained from inside Full Sail University as the new Champion celebrated his victory, but the picture then pointedly cut to Karrion Kross and Scarlett viewing the spectacle with smiles on their faces. Lee had defeated Finn Bálor and Johnny Gargano a fortnight prior to earn the shot at the gold, but now-former Champion Adam Cole had been issued a threat by Kross that will now likely extend to the new titleholder. The future of Cole and The Undisputed Era remains a little less clear.

NXT gaffer Triple H paid tribute to both men on Twitter after the match, noting that the new Champion was Cole's historic tenure with the strap on Twitter after the match, noting that "The possibilities are #Limitless" for Lee and that "Adam Cole MADE the NXT championship, THE championship."
