Jay and Silent Bob star Kevin Smith made a peculiar appearance on last week's AEW Dynamite to help promote the latest film in the series. Apparently, he could have been on SmackDown two days later instead.

Whilst guesting on the The Rich Eisen show this past week, alongside AEW World Champion Chris Jericho, the director revealed that he and co-star Jason Mewes had been invited by WWE to their big blue brand launch on FOX later that week, but were pulled after their appearance on the rival product.

"WWE was like, 'You can't come on anymore,'" he told Eisen. "They canceled us." Jericho quipped that the pair were the first casualties of the burgeoning wrestling war between WWE and AEW.

Given how Smith and Mewes' Dynamite cameo was met with a relatively muted reaction, it probably wasn't the worst thing in the world that WWE opted against their services the following Friday. All the same, it's another clear sign that Vince and co. are taking their new opposition very seriously indeed.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
