Could the WWE Championship change hands?

Kofi Kingston will challenge Daniel Bryan one-on-one for the WWE Championship at Fastlane, as announced by Shane McMahon at the close of last night's SmackDown Live.

Kingston has been riding a wave of momentum after a show-stealing performance on last week's episode where he replaced Mustafa Ali and wrestled for over an hour in a gauntlet match. At Sunday's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Kofi came incredibly close to snatching the championship away from Bryan before being the final person eliminated from the chamber.

Fans have subsequently been clamouring for the 11-year veteran to get a shot at Daniel Bryan and his WWE Championship in a singles match, and after another stellar showing on last night's episode, he was rewarded by Commissioner Shane McMahon. In a post-match interview, Kingston said of the opportunity:-

"I can't make any guarantees. But what I said before is, when you stay ready, you ain't got to get ready, and I've been ready for a long time. 11 years. I've been waiting for opportunities like this. Words cannot even describe how hyped I am right now. All my life, all I've ever wanted was a shot, a chance. Finally, at Fastlane, I'm going to get that chance one more time, and I can't wait."

McMahon also announced another championship match for Fastlane, after revealing that he and The Miz would have a rematch for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Usos in The A-Lister's hometown of Cleveland, Ohio on March 10th.
