With Mick Foley fired and Stephanie McMahon out of action, Raw found itself without an authority figure. That problem was solved in person by Vince McMahon, who returned to the show on the evening after WrestleMania in order to appoint Kurt Angle the brand's new general manager - albeit after a cheeky tease of Teddy Long.

Angle, playing a babyface, told the fans that it was great to be back on Raw.

On Friday evening, Kurt Angle made his first WWE appearance in over a decade when he was inducted into the company's Hall of Fame as the headliner of the 2017 class. He subsequently appeared at WrestleMania in order to be honored, but rumors had been flying that he was scheduled for Raw and his affiliation with the company would last beyond the weekend.

This isn't Angle's first time working as a general manager. After Paul Heyman left his post as Smackdown's GM following WrestleMania XX, Angle - who was suffering from neck issues that kept him from competing but was written out of action due to Big Show chokeslamming him off a balcony - stepped into Heyman's shoes. His tenure was short lived, as McMahon fired him when it was discovered that Angle was faking his injuries and attacking Eddie Guerrero.
