Kurt Angle Leaving TNA And Could Be Retired

Could WWE be interested in the free agent?

Kurt Angle is leaving TNA at the end of 2015. He told Mark Madden's Pittsburgh radio show on Tuesday night that he wouldn't be signing a new contract with TNA Impact Wrestling. His contract is set to expire at the end of this year, and he said he'd be taking a break from pro wrestling. However, considering he turns 47 at the end of this year, considering his chronic injuries, and considering WWE have no interest in signing him, Angle's exit from TNA could well be his retirement as a pro wrestler. If this is the end of his career, he should be congratulated on being one of the best pro wrestlers of this century. Especially in the years he had with WWE, he was just supremely talented. His peak came from 2002 to 2005, when he had numerous excellent matches with the likes of Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, Brock Lesnar, and many others. His in-ring work was flawless, as was his mic worker. He was a complete all rounder, but came along in an era when WWE were always going to push Triple H and then John Cena as the main stars. Injuries also held him back, hence his decision to go to TNA and have an easier schedule. TNA Impact Wrestling has been a long and at times successful run for Kurt, but it does seem a shame he'll be possibly ending his career in such a lower league. Maybe he'll be hoping that once gone from the brand, WWE will make an offer to him, but he says that isn't the case. A one off WWE return match could do business, but Vince McMahon doesn't want to take a risk on physically liable talent. He won't even look at having Steve Austin work, so he's even more unlikely to look at Angle. A WWE Hall Of Fame spot is a different story. Angle has to be a certainty for it, and his relationship with Vince and Triple H is much improved over the past few years.
