Bobby Lashley will defend the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania Backlash on Sunday 16 May.

The bout came together on last night's Raw. McIntyre was placed in a Triple Threat to determine Lashley's next contender in the main event, pinning Randy Orton in a match also featuring Braun Strowman, punching his ticket for a title shot.

McIntyre scored the fall after hitting a low Claymore on his old rival, Orton, who was pinning Strowman at the time, his victory seemingly secured. Afterwards, MVP hit the stage, distracting McIntyre long enough for ex-RETRIBUTION men Mace and T-Bar to attack Drew, laying him out to bring the show to a close.

The commentators bantered on whether or not MVP had anything to do with the assault, suggesting an alliance between Mace, T-Bar, MVP, and Lashley. If only Lashley and MVP had a perfectly over stable they could have used in the RETRIBUTION wrestlers' spots. Hmmm.

Lashley defeated McIntyre in WrestleMania 37's opening match last Saturday, forcing him to pass out in the Hurt Lock. Drew and MVP were involved in a verbal in-ring confrontation last night as well.
