Last month, Stephanie McMahon announced that due to the success of the Cruiserweight Classic, the cruiserweight division would be reinstituted on the Raw brand. On Monday, more details were revealed regarding the new division.

Cruiserweight competition will begin on Raw on September 19, the week before the Clash of Champions Pay-Per-View. That date is notable because it's the first episode of Raw following the conclusion of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. The grueling series of matches will finish on September 14, with the finals airing live on the WWE Network.

There has been no further information as to when the Cruiserweight Championship will be reintroduced, but if the belt is given to the winner of the tournament, he'll presumably have to defend it at Clash of Champions.

Additionally, four men were announced as participating in the division - Rich Swann, who has already been signed to WWE for months and made NXT appearances prior to appearing in the CWC; Noam Dar, who has worked for a variety of UK independent promotions including WhatCulture Pro Wrestling; Brian Kendrick, a veteran who spent many years in WWE across three different tenures; and T.J. Perkins, a independent high-flyer who competed for TNA under the name Manik.
