A mystery wrestler will arrive in WWE NXT 2.0 at the upcoming Halloween Havoc special.

This was announced during last night's show. A short vignette hyping the impending arrival aired during the broadcast, with spooky music, sound and visual effects, and a greyscale filter showing a person dragging a shovel through a forest. It then closes with them plunging the spade into the ground, starting to dig a hole.

"I will bury the past so I can start again," said a distorted voice that offered little indication of who the vignette was designed to promote.

NXT's recent reboot into 2.0 opens the door for all kinds of wacky gimmick possibilities here. WWE's developmental brand has moved back towards a more gimmick-driven product, and with the show currently boasting a teacher (Andre Chase), Sopranos knockoff (Tony D'Angelo), poker player (Duke Hudson), stable of MMA jocks (Diamond Mine) and more, nothing is off the table here.

Halloween Havoc 2021 takes place on 26 October. WWE has announced the following matches for it thus far:-

- NXT Championship: Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Bron Breakker

- NXT Women's Championship Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal Match: Raquel Gonzalez (c) vs. Mandy Rose

- NXT Women's Tag Team Championship Triple Threat: Io Shirai and Zoey Stark (c) vs. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne vs. Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta
