NXT & AEW DVR Numbers Are "Shockingly Big"
Almost twice as many people are watching shows after first transmission.
AEW and NXT have been averaging a combined one million viewers since the two shows began going head-to-head at the start of October, but it transpires significantly more people are watching the shows.
According to Dave Meltzer, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, DVR numbers - that is, people who record the programme and watch it at a later date - for both NXT and AEW's Dynamite are "really big - shocking big."
The journalist admits that his information only applies to the 18-49 demographic, but let slip that at least 700,000 extra viewers are tuning in to USA and TNT each Wednesday.
Meltzer broke down the figures, noting that in Dynamite's case, 57% watch the show live, 22% over the next three days, 17% on days four to seven, and 4% a week after first transmission.
For NXT, those figures read: 65%, 15%, 19%, 3%.
These numbers are an average taken from the first set of dual aired episodes on 2 October, through to the second week of November.
He did, however, note that although viewing figures are better than the raw overnight ratings suggests, the additional viewers aren't having an appreciable impact on ticket sales for either company, with AEW hitting a plateau and NXT's live gate actually decreasing.
NXT beat AEW in the 'Wednesday Night Wars' for this first time last, slightly edging Dynamite out after their huge intrabrand episode ahead of Survivor Series.
