This weekend's WWE NXT UK tapings in Hull, England saw the promotion announce the British brand's next TakeOver event, with a Saturday, 11 January 2020 return to Blackpool's Empress ballroom on the cards:-
Triple H tweeted the following on NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II over the weekend:-
A fair appraisal from the NXT head honcho, as WWE's British brand as effectively "born" through January 2017's United Kingdom Title Tournament - a two-night affair also held in the Empress Ballroom.
The tapings also saw three bouts announced for TakeOver: Blackpool II. They are as follows:-
NXT UK Championship Match: WALTER (c) vs. Joe Coffey
NXT UK Women's Championship Match: Kay Lee Ray (c) vs. Toni Storm vs. Piper Niven
NXT UK Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: Gallus (c) vs. Imperium vs. Grizzled Young Vets vs. South Wales Subculture
NXT UK's last TakeOver event, Cardiff, took place on 31 August. It was a night of critically acclaimed bouts capped by an awesome main event pitting WALTER against Tyler Bate, which drew a hefty *****1/4 rating from big Dave Meltzer and swathes of praise from all corners of the wrestling commentariat.
Can WALTER work that same magic with Coffey? Let's find out.
