NXT Women's Championship Fatal 4-Way Match Announced For TakeOver: San Antonio
Asuka versus Nikki Cross versus Billie Kay versus Peyton Royce.
Thursday afternoon, WWE.com announced a major title match for the upcoming NXT TakeOver: San Antonio show. At the show - which will take place the day before the Royal Rumble PPV - Woman's Champion Asuka will defend her championship against Nikki Cross, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce in a fatal 4-way match.
Asuka is the longest-reigning Women's Champion in NXT history, winning the belt last April at TakeOver: Dallas and going on to defend it against Nia Jax, Bayley, and Mickie James. During that time, Kay and Royce - Australian pro wrestlers and former high school classmates who joined NXT in 2015 - have been raising their profile on the brand. More recently, they've started running roughshod over competition, and on this week's episode of NXT, they attacked the Women's Champion.
The wild card is Nikki Cross, part of the unpredictable Sanity stable. Though the group has been bringing chaos to NXT since their debut in the fall, Cross actually saved Asuka from Kay and Royce, chasing them out of the ring. After that, though, she stared Asuka down, making it clear that she also wanted a shot at the title.
NXT TakeOver: San Antonio airs live on the WWE Network on January 28 at 8:00 PM ET.
