Orton Vs. Jericho And Reigns Vs. Rollins At WWE Night Of Champions

Two more matches became official for WWE Night of Champions on September 21.

This Tuesday on WWE Main Event, two more matches were made official for WWE's Night of Champions PPV on September 21 in Nashville. The two matches will see Randy Orton take on Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns will match up with Seth Rollins in a battle of former Shield members. The Orton/Jericho rivalry is something that goes back many years, most notably when Jericho came back to WWE towards the end of 2007 with Orton in position as the top heel in the company. They've had several matches over the years. Most likely the reason they're doing the feud is to give Orton a win over a big name after he lost to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. It was set up this week on Raw when Orton attacked Jericho in the trainer's room. Jericho's expected to be out of WWE after Night of Champions due to music commitments with his band Fozzy. Orton will likely be the guy that gets to take him out. A matchup between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins makes a lot of sense considering their history as part of The Shield with Rollins claiming that he was the guy that created the group. They were also tag team champions together. This week on Raw, it was Rollins that gave Reigns a Curb Stomp onto a steel chair to set up this match. Both guys have been on the receiving end of pushes since The Shield's breakup in June. Rollins went on to win the Money in the Bank briefcase while Reigns has been booked like a Superman a lot of the time. Dean Ambrose is rumored to return from filming the movie Lockdown on the Raw after Night of Champions although it wouldn't be a surprise if he came back at this show to save Reigns from a beating. These two matches make it a total of eight matches that are advertised for Night of Champions. That likely means the show is full although perhaps one more match will be added for the pre-show. Here are the other eight matches. WWE Championship: Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena - Lesnar will be on Raw next week after missing the last three weeks. Cena says he wants to "fight" him on Raw. Intercontinental Title: Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz - The Miz gets his IC Title rematch. It's been a comedy feud in some ways, but it has received a good build. United States Title: Sheamus vs. Cesaro - They always have good matches. A title change is possible although the US Title really isn't that prestigious. Divas Title: Paige vs. AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella - It wouldn't be a surprise to see Brie Bella show up to cost her sister Nikki the title. Paige will probably retain. Tag Titles: The Usos vs. Goldust & Stardust - Since the heel turn of the Dust Brothers has gone well this is a match where a title change is most likely. Mark Henry vs. Rusev - Henry's a bigger name for Rusev to beat. It would be a surprise to see Rusev suffer his first pinfall or submission loss during this match.
