Paul Heyman Reveals His Insight Into CM Punk Quitting WWE

Paul Heyman has revealed that CM Punk isn't missing the wrestling business, further stating WWE is a sore spot for the former Champion. He also added that only Vince McMahon and Triple H were in the room with Punk when he walked out on WWE this past January. The comments came as part of Heyman's interview with Steve Austin on The Steve Austin Show podcast, recorded a couple of days before WrestleMania 30. "I talk to him all the time. I don't really talk to him about the industry all that much because it's obviously a sore spot with him. "I think when you talk about CM Punk/Phil Brooks, there were three people in the room the night that he quit: Vince McMahon, Triple H, and CM Punk. I don't know what went on in that room. I know certain perspectives, but none of those three have talked in public about it. If one, two, or three of them decide to go public, then we'll get a perspective on what happened that day. Until one of the three of them speak about it, it's only rumor and speculation and gossip. How's he doing? He's fine. Does he miss the business? I don't think so." The comments are the first major public statements we have had from someone close to Punk. Heyman has gave us the deepest insight yet into the night Punk quit, revealing that Punk's dispute was face to face with Vince and Hunter. The fact he calls Punk's relationship with the industry a "sore spot" tells us that his discussions with Vince and Hunter on his last night with WWE probably got quite heated. The fact neither Punk, Vince or Hunter will acknowledge that fallout has ensured the dispute will continue to be speculated about. If Punk really wanted to be left alone, if he really wanted to leave the industry, some sort of closure statement would be his best bet for severing his ties with pro wrestling. Heyman's comments about Punk not missing the industry and not wanting to talk about it aren't surprising. The star has been silent on twitter and on his sole public appearance, the Talking Dead tv show, he referred to himself as Phil Brooks and described himself as a "totally new person." It looks as if the impasse will continue as it is, silence without any answers from anybody. WWE and Punk are probably going to let the contract they have run out in July, at which point we may get some indication of just what happened this past January. One interesting thing to note, both Austin and Heyman talked about their own exits from WWE, ultimately they ended up coming back. You honestly wouldn't be surprised if CM Punk ended up coming to that same point himself in the years to come. Everyone comes back to WWE eventually.
