Ranking 10 Most Likely Candidates To Win Their First WWE World Title

After Ambrose, who is next in line to win their first?

Dean Ambrose is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. No, he didn't steal the title from Seth Rollins and it isn't an assumption - he literally pinned his former Shield buddy in the centre of the ring to pick up the win and become the official champion of World Wrestling Entertainment.

Boy does that feel good to write.

It has taken a while, but Dean Ambrose has his first taste of world championship glory in WWE. This makes him the eighth man to do so in the last five years, following Rollins, Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Alberto Del Rio, Christian, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and Jack Swagger in winning the big one for the very first time.

So who will the next man to make their inaugural climb up the mountain? A whole heap of conjecture must be used here, as the number of individuals in the upper echelons of the WWE food chain who haven't won a world title in the company is surprisingly scarce. Try as I might, I just can't see Sami Zayn or Neville winning a WWE World Championship any time soon, either.

But who can I see doing so? Well, you'll have to read on to find out. Let's just say Xavier Woods will continue to be the odd-one-out in The New Day...

10. Big Cass

This might seem like something of a stretch, but we're talking first time champions here. If we made a list of the last 10 first time World Champions in World Wrestling Entertainment, the first (or last) name on the list would be Jack Swagger way back in 2010. What was Dean Ambrose doing in 2010? The Lunatic Fring wasn't even signed to a WWE contract...

Big Cass is quite clearly someone that WWE bigwigs have high hopes for in the future. The former Colin Cassady has been heavily protected since making his way to the main roster, and it has been reported that he isn't long for the tag team world, ready to break out in the singles ranks any day now.

There's every change that once the rocket is strapped to the back of Big Cass, his rise will sit comfortably under the bracket headed 'meteoric'.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
