Ranking All 6 Goldberg WWE Matches Since Returning

Before we ask, "Who's Next?" a look at Goldberg's previous conquests.

The return of Goldberg to a WWE ring after a 12-year absence has to be one of the most improbable feats in professional wrestling in the past several years.

The former WCW Heavyweight, World Heavyweight and WWE Universal Champion had a remarkable – albeit brief – run at the top of both major wrestling companies in the late 90s and early 2000s, but he virtually disappeared from the wrestling landscape for more than a decade, only resurfacing after a tie-in with the latest edition of the WWE 2K video game in 2016.

Since then, Goldberg has wrestled very sparingly, but has been placed on a level similar to another legend – The Undertaker. Goldberg has largely been treated as an unstoppable monster, able to hang with other unstoppable monsters. His routine is pretty much locked in at this stage – show up periodically, wrestle a short, high-profile match, disappear.

With the WCW legend due for a titanic clash against "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt at Super Showdown, let’s take a look at Goldberg’s in-ring appearances since returning to WWE several years ago. Some have been unforgettable, while others the company wishes could be erased from history.

With that said, let’s buckle up as we spear our way through the list. Let’s get to it…

6. Goldberg Versus The Undertaker - Super Showdown 2019

Yep, it’s that match.

When you talk about matches that were an absolute Dumpster fire, this one has to top anyone’s list. Goldberg versus Undertaker should have been a dream match, a modern-day clash of the titans.

Instead, it was an absolute nightmare, a joke of a match that was embarrassing for everyone involved and everyone who watched it. At 8:35, this is the longest match of Goldberg’s return, and that might be part of the problem, because it was held at Super Showdown 2019, where the in-ring temperature was reported at nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s difficult to ask two men north of 50 to wrestle in those conditions for any length of time.

Worse, Goldberg gave himself a concussion early in the match when he hit the ring post too hard, drawing blood and leaving himself loopy for the rest of the bout. All of that led to a sloppy match that featured numerous botches.

How bad was this match? Both men basically rushed back out within two months and had new matches to wash the stain of this off, with WWE using it as fodder with Dolph Ziggler mocking Goldberg for having such an awful match.

Yeah, that’s a pretty damn terrible match.
