Ranking Every WWE Title Change On Raw

17. Roman Reigns Def. Sheamus (14 December 2015)

It seems awfully hipster to put, as the bottom two title changes on this list, victories from John Cena and Roman Reigns, but the former was mean-spirited and counter-productive, and this - well, this just felt kind of stupid.

After Sheamus - egged on by The Authority - captured the WWE Championship from Roman Reigns by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase at Survivor Series, The Big Dog was cast in the role of a ridiculously up-against-it baby-face.

Inevitably, the result was widespread boos almost everywhere he went. However much fans may have despised Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, this sort of booking felt manipulative and contrived; the sort of thing that is bound to be rejected by audiences who yearn for shades of grey.

In the face of this groundswell of hate, it would surely have been much better to keep the belt on Sheamus for a while longer, allowing Roman to build up some goodwill with the crowd before he reclaimed his throne at the top of the WWE food chain. Winning here did nobody any favours.
