Sought-after wrestling free agent Jeff Cobb has seemingly signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling, reports Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer points out that Cobb has spent the past few months telling people that he had signed with a promotion without letting his new employers' name slip. Now that he is "with New Japan completely" as part of the G1 Climax tournament, it iss almost certain that the Hawaiian has come to terms with the 'King of Sports.'

An interesting facet of this? Cobb turned AEW down for NJPW. Meltzer states that all Jeff ever wanted was to sign with New Japan, not WWE, AEW, or anything else, despite featuring on a February episode of Dynamite as Chris Jericho's hired gun in 'Le Champion's' World Title feud with Jon Moxley.

Cobb's last contract was with Ring Of Honor, though it expired on 1 January. His career went into hibernation at the onset of the global health crisis but Cobb re-emerged in June, appearing for NJPW's United States imprint, before being confirmed as part of the G1 last week. His run through NJPW's signature tournament kicks off with a bout against Taichi this coming Saturday.
