Rey Mysterio Is Done With WWE And Waiting To Join AAA

The WWE and Mysterio relationship is beyond repair.

Rey Mysterio is done with WWE and will join AAA as soon as his contract expires, Hugo Savinovich has told KGB Wrestling. The masked wrestler is under a WWE deal through to April. Even then, WWE could extend his contract if he doesn't return to action, due to the time he owes them from not competing. He has no intention of going back to make this time up, so it will be an interesting situation to play out. Savinovich is a good friend of Mysterio and is the former spanish announcer for WWE. He now works for AAA as the liaison to the United States. It is somewhat of a surprise that both AAA and Mysterio are being so vocal about their intentions, especially when you consider the delicate legal situation. WWE in no way want Rey to be walking into AAA or Lucha Underground. They want him back to make up the time they feel he owes. If he doesn't return to the ring before April, WWE could extend his contract again. Relations between the wrestler and his employer are obviously really bad right now. The fact that Mysterio didn't even do a guest appearance on WWE's Mexico shows was indicative of the bad blood. His employer was really unhappy when he attended backstage at Lucha Underground and the time he appeared in a video at AAA's TripleMania. Much like CM Punk's WWE fallout, this could all end up an ugly legal mess. It's a real shame for Mysterio, who really was one of the WWE's main characters for much of the last twelve years. He should've been retiring and taking his place in the WWE Hall Of Fame, but his legacy now looks to be up in the air. Leaving on bad terms with the McMahon family is never a good idea. He's actually one of the most banged up wrestlers on the WWE roster, his body really is ravaged by injuries. His knees are in bad condition and he gets hurt with such ease. You really have to question his logic in wanting to join another wrestling group. He'll be forty in December and has been wrestling for twenty five years.
