WWE.com have officially confirmed The Rock 'N' Roll Express as inductees into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class.

They join Kurt Angle, who was announced as the headliner for the ceremony three weeks ago.

Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson first teamed together in Memphis in 1983, playing the role of teenybopper heartthrobs to incredible success. The pair achieved their greatest fame in Jim Crockett Promotions, however, playing opposite the villainous Midnight Express - and capturing three NWA World Tag Team Championships in the process. In the 1990s, the RNR Express would work for WWE and WCW, and capture several more NWA World Tag Team Titles.

Few tag teams in pro wrestling history have been as influential as The Rock 'N' Roll Express. Besides spawning scores of imitators from The Rockers to The Hardy Boyz, the team popularized a style of tag team wrestling that sees the smaller, more vulnerable partner "take the heat" - or receive a two-on-one beating from a heel tandem - before making a hot tag to his partner, who then cleans house. Being the partner in peril is still colloquially called "playing Ricky Morton" in honor of the Express.

The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony airs live on the WWE Network on Friday, March 31.
