Following his absence from last weekend's WWE Day 1 PPV due to a positive COVID-19 test result, Roman Reigns was told on Monday night that Brock Lesnar would be paying him a visit on this week's SmackDown.

Whilst some speculated whether or not the Head of the Table would even be on SmackDown this Friday, WWE has now confirmed that Reigns has been medically cleared to return to action on this upcoming blue brand offering.

Even though Reigns' WWE absence has been a short one, a lot has changed since we last saw the current Universal Champion.

Of course, Roman was due to defend SmackDown's top prize against Lesnar at WWE Day 1, with fans left guessing as to what role Paul Heyman would have in this contest. Due to Reigns being pulled from the show, that led to the Beast Incarnate being added to the fatal four-way for Big E's WWE Title.

Not only did Lesnar emerge victorious against E, Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens at Day 1, he now has Heyman back at his side, as seen on Monday night. In addition to that, Brock also has himself a mouth-watering title defence against Lashley at the Royal Rumble later this month.

The belief is that WWE still intends to do Lesnar vs. Reigns at WrestleMania 38. It now just remains to be seen what that match looks like and how WWE gets there.
