Last night's ESPN Espy Awards ceremony featured a category for 'Best WWE Moment' for the very first time - and Roman Reigns walked away with it.

'The Big Dog' scooped the trophy for his 2019 comeback story. Diagnosed with leukaemia for the second time in October 2018, he broke the news that the disease had gone into remission on Raw's 25 February episode, sparking a huge outpouring of emotion.

Becky Lynch's double title win at WrestleMania 35, Kofi Kingston's own WWE Championship triumph at the same event, and Ronda Rousey capturing her first WWE belt at SummerSlam 2018 were also nominated.

Looking at the competition, it's easy to see why Reigns picked up the victory. The other moments were crafted in creative rooms. His, on the other hand, was very, very real, and while the promotion haven't made the most of the surge of support he received after it, Roman's announcement was as pure an emotional release as the sport could ever hope to deliver.

The former WWE and Universal Champion tweeted the following about the victory:-

Good on him for scoring this accolade. His comeback story is borderline miraculous and deserves all the coverage it gets.
