Seth Rollins Vs. Dean Ambrose Set For WWE Battleground In July

Former Shield members set to battle...

WWE.comWWE.comWhen The Shield broke up earlier this month after Seth Rollins aligned himself with Triple H and Randy Orton, there were questions about when he would face off against former partners Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns in singles matches. It hasn't happened on TV or PPV yet, but it is planned to take place at the July 20 Battleground PPV according to the Wrestling Observer. Immediately after the Rollins turn on the June 2nd edition of Raw, there were rumors that they would have a singles match at Money in the Bank this coming Sunday. That didn't happen because both guys are a part of the Money in the Bank contract ladder match. Both of them have to be considered favorites for it especially since Bad News Barrett is most likely going to be out due to the shoulder injury he suffered on Tuesday. Ambrose has been booked as a lone wolf for the last couple of weeks just like Roman Reigns. That hasn't been an accident. The idea is that both of them are going to be babyfaces, but they're going to do their own thing instead of always appearing together like they did as members of The Shield. Ambrose has been wrestling wearing white tank top shirts (similar to Kane when he was "Corporate Kane" earlier this year) and in jeans, so he's got a unique look going for him. Rollins has also gone through changes. He's got a new theme song just like Ambrose and he's gone through a few different looks already. He has wrestled in his Shield attire, then he wore a different Nike vest, then he went shirtless and he's got some kind of leather pants. He's still trying to figure it all out, but if you look at him strictly as a performer he's doing a great job as a heel right now. While there hasn't been a clear indication of who Roman Reigns is feuding with at Battleground, it's probably going to be Randy Orton. There have been rumors of doing Reigns vs. Triple H at SummerSlam as well, so those are possible matches to look forward to this summer as well. A Rollins/Ambrose match at Battleground makes a lot of sense. They're already working on house shows and they had several matches in FCW/NXT in their career, so their chemistry should be great. If they have two or three PPV matches against each other it has the potential to be a feud of the year.
