Sheamus Wins WWE Royal Rumble 2012

In something of a major surprise, the ‘Celtic Warrior’ Sheamus won his first ever WWE Royal Rumble match last night, defeating runner-up Chris Jericho to win the 30-man over-the-top rop elimination match. He will now go on to face a Champion of his choosing at WrestleMania 28, from Miami, Florida on April 1st.

The final two came down to Jericho and Sheamus who then brawled for several minutes with a bunch of close finishes. The final two seemed to wrestle forever, definitely longer than the Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker final two brawl of a few years back, with Sheamus finally winning with the Brogue Kick to knock Jericho off the apron.

Jericho had been a favourite to win the Rumble match along with home town hero Randy Orton who was also expected to win the event from St. Louis, Missouri, but Orton was eliminated by Jericho before it went down to the final two.
