Last chance saloon?

AJ Styles will defend the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura for a fourth time at next month's Money in the Bank.

The match was confirmed today in a tweet posted by SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon, who promised that the bout would this time have "a clear victor" after their tie at Backlash. He did not disclose the stipulation, but given the show on which it will take place, the smart money is on a ladder match.

Despite their respective reputations as two of the industry's leading technicians, previous efforts featuring AJ and Nakamura have been largely disappointing. Their initial clash at WrestleMania 34 fell well short of pre-show expectations, with rematches at Greatest Royal Rumble and Backlash following much the same pattern.

The addition of a ladder, however, could be exactly the spark this feud needs to catch fire the way fans hoped several months ago. It is likely last chance saloon for The King of Strong Style too, having already come up short on three separate occasions.

With a men's Money in the Bank match on the under-card, the possibility of an after-bell ambush from the new briefcase-holder probably can't be completely ruled out either.
