With WWE NXT taping the much anticipated Finn Balor vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match at Friday's NXT television tapings in Florida, the direction for the big NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II show in August is being questioned.
The Balor/Nakamura match was originally speculated to take place at Takeover, but the fact that the match is being taped for a weekly NXT television show is almost assuredly a sign that Balor is being called up to the main roster before Takeover in August. Clearly WWE felt they couldn't wait two months to do the match with plans for Balor on the main roster taking precedent.
So what does the road look like for Shinsuke Nakamura following his match with Balor? The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that a Samoa Joe vs. Nakamura match is likely in-line for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II. Of course the match will be for the NXT Championship and headline the show.
Of course it is still possible that Nakamura and Joe will be drafted to the main roster during the July 19 WWE Draft. As you will recall, Kevin Owens was brought up to the main roster while still NXT Champion in 2015. It's almost assured at this point, though, that Balor will be drafted on that WWE Draft broadcast, and he may very well make his main roster debut prior to the draft.
