Stephanie McMahon Says CM Punk Can Return To WWE Raw

"Never say never."

Stephanie McMahon has left the door open for CM Punk to return to the WWE. The WWE's Chief Brand Officer was speaking to WGN Morning News as part of her promotional duties for tonight's Raw from Chicago, Illinois. The main topic of discussion was WWE's partnering with the Susan G Komen charity for their third annual breast cancer awareness campaign. This means that the WWE will be turning pink again for the month of October. During the interview, WGN asked Stephanie whether Chicago native and former WWE Champion CM Punk would ever return to the WWE. "Never say never," was her simple response. It was certainly an interesting statement for Stephanie to make. She wasn't necessarily telling the truth, but at least on the face of it, this comment means WWE are open to CM Punk returning. The reason to doubt she was being truthful is because there's a lot of animosity in WWE over Punk's abrupt exit. Stephanie was always rumoured to have hostility with Punk, so she's unlikely to really welcome him back. We'd guess that her "never say never" response was nothing more than a PR friendly soundbite. It was a way of saying something, when she was really saying nothing. Still, there'll be some who take the statement as honest. If WWE really have left the door open for Punk, then perhaps we could see a return at some point in the future. In fact, given that everyone from Bret Hart to Ultimate Warrior ended up going back to WWE, Stephanie's "never say never" comment can be seen as ultimately spot on.
