Sting Explains Why He Lost To Triple H At WWE WrestleMania 31

WCW Icon lost his first ever WWE match. Here's why.

Sting has revealed the reason why he lost to Triple H at WWE WrestleMania 31. Speaking on the newly released Into The Light documentary, he states it is "the right thing to do" in your last match. Throughout the documentary, he says that he thinks WrestleMania is his last wrestling match. Clearly his deal has since been restructured, as he ended up wrestling Seth Rollins at September's Night Of Champions show. What he did at WrestleMania, was the time honoured tradition of putting your opponent over on the way out. It shows Sting's old school mentality. Even when it was his first WWE match, he still felt it was the correct thing to do to put the other guy over. In his mind, he was done with wrestling, and it was time to leave it all in the squared circle. It is similar to what The Undertaker did at WrestleMania 30, when he and Vince McMahon thought that could have been his last ever year. You do the honours on your way out. That's why it was so controversial when Bret Hart left the WWF in 1997. He wasn't willing to do the job on his way out of the territory, hence why the Montreal Screwjob went down. Sting demonstrated real class in giving the win to Triple H at WrestleMania 30. Putting the other guy over is always the right thing to do when leaving a career or company.
