WWE Debut: Raw, December 18

Putting aside his one-off appearance in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXXI, Hideo Itami finally made it to the main roster this month and was immediately put into the spotlight… albeit as a member of the cruiserweight division.

Itami might be “stuck” on 205 Live, but it’s clear he’s being treated like a big deal, debuting by saving former tag team partner Finn Balor from the Miztourage and scoring a pinfall victory against the heavyweights before transitioning to the cruiserweights. It’s very possible that Hideo is wearing the Cruiserweight Championship by WrestleMania XXXIV.

While he debuted very late in the year, the fact that he made it to the main roster and is getting some time to shine right away gives some reason for hope.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
