The REAL Reason Brock Lesnar Wasn't Mentioned On WWE Raw This Week

The Universal Champion deliberately wasn't referenced once for good reason...

Brock Lesnar

Despite his headline-grabbing appearance at UFC 226 last weekend, where he confronted new UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar wasn't mentioned once on Monday Night RAW this week.

This is reportedly because Vince McMahon insisted that all emphasis be on pushing this weekend's Extreme Rules pay-per-view instead.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer explained the thought process behind this decision:-

"McMahon told everyone that the show in Boston is to focus completely on building Extreme Rules, a show Lesnar isn't on, so his name wasn't to be mentioned."

Furthermore, Meltzer claimed that McMahon wants to create the idea that the Universal Champion has walked out, is going to the UFC, turned his back on the WWE fans, isn't coming back to drop the title and is holding up the belt.

Whilst in kayfabe terms this decision makes sense, it is strange that WWE, a company who have dined out on Lesnar and Ronda Rousey's UFC history in the past, would neglect to mention an appearance which got the MMA world's attention and presumably will lead to a showdown between Lesnar and Cormier inside the Octagon in the near future...but that's Vince McMahon for you!
