The Real Reason Finn Bálor Just Lost The Intercontinental Title

What does WWE have planned?

Finn Balor

Finn Balor dropped the Intercontinental Championship to Bobby Lashley because WWE have "big plans" for him at this year's WrestleMania, according to WrestleVotes.

Many fans assumed that when Balor was defeated by Lashley on Monday Night Raw thanks to a distraction by Lio Rush, this would lead to a rematch for the IC Title at WrestleMania 35. However, WrestleVotes are claiming that sources are hinting at something much bigger for 'The Show of Shows'.

Many are now speculating as to whether we could finally see The Demon versus The Undertaker at this year's 'Mania. A showdown between Finn Balor's alter-ego and The Deadman has been a dream match for wrestling fans for several years now, but it seemed destined to remain just a dream due to Finn's involvement in other storylines and Taker's advancing years.

Nevertheless, taking the title from Balor leaves his options open for WrestleMania, and with no opponent or even an appearance confirmed for The Undertaker on 'The Grandest Stage of Them All', it's a contest worth considering for WWE.

One other possibility that has been suggested is Balor being inserted into the Universal Championship match between the champion Brock Lesnar and the winner of this year's men's Royal Rumble, Seth Rollins.

There seems to be little rationale for this however, WWE have spent months building the feud between Lesnar & Rollins, adding Balor at this late stage would only muddy the waters, and would diminish the excitement around the Raw Women's Championship triple threat too. Regardless, this is Vince McMahon, so anything could happen!
