The Rock Confirms Talks With WWE For WrestleMania 32 Main Event

The Rock looks almost certain to main event the Dallas event.

The Rock has told SI.com that he has an open dialogue with Triple H about main eventing WWE's WrestleMania 32. Talks are ongoing, including text messages in which Hunter told Rock that they could break the all time WWE attendance record. From the sounds of it, Triple H is really keen on working with Rock next year. But the Hollywood star has stopped short of confirming he's on board, stating "I€™ve had incredible matches with Triple H, so I'm not ruling it out, but I'm not saying it is going to happen. We continue to talk about it, and we€™re still shooting each other text messages. He sent me a message from Dallas that said, €˜This could be us. The record is ours.€™ So we€™ll see." But at this point, it is hard to imagine it not happening. The Rock wouldn't be publicly flirting with the idea in interviews if he was any bit reluctant to do the match. As for Hunter and WWE, they know that it is a strong headliner that will play well in the commercial mainstream. It is a safe bet to fill the 100,000 seats at Cowboys Stadium, plus Hunter gets to write himself into pro wrestling history. "There€™s a lot of elements involved that we continue to talk about and chop up. That€™s the coolest part about the relationship I have with the McMahons, including Triple H," The Rock states in the interview. The one thing that appears important to The Rock is topping WrestleMania 28. That was the highest grossing WWE pay per view of all time, which he main evented in a match with John Cena. The pay per view model is now dead, but you'd expect WrestleMania 32 to shatter all sorts of records in terms of live gate and Network subscribers.

"Myself, Vince, Triple H have talked about creating something that is amazing. Any time for me, going back into the WWE, especially if it€™s a match €“ and these guys know this because of the open dialogue between me and Triple H €“ the question is, can we create, in terms of a promotional scale for the fans, something better than what we did in Miami and back-to-back in New York with John Cena? Can we put together something that€™s different but equally, if not more, exciting?"
