The Rock vs Brock Lesnar or John Cena For WWE WrestleMania 29 Main Event

WWE's current long term plan is for WWE WrestleMania 29 to be headlined by The Rock vs either John Cena or Brock Lesnar. Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the success of this year's WrestleMania 28 from Miami, Florida has fuelled desire in the WWE to hold a re-match between The Rock and John Cena at next year's event. Vince McMahon has always been a fan of trying to repeat success and there are plenty of indications in history of a WrestleMania main event getting a big money rematch, such as The Rock vs Hulk Hogan II and the countless times Steve Austin and The Rock wrestled each other. Meanwhile however the WWE are also considering a match between The Rock vs Brock Lesnar to be next year's showcase match. The Rock vs Brock Lesnar did good business back at SummerSlam 2002, one of the last main events when The Rock was a full time performer and there is any easy storyline in them two coming to blows. Plus, you could easily make the argument that they are the two biggest box office draws in the company, unquestionably they are outside the biggest hardcore fan base. WWE will likely go back and forth over the proposed main event over the coming year. One factor could be where Brock Lesnar stands at the end of this year. He has signed a one-year contract with the company that expires at next year's WrestleMania and WWE are unsure about whether he would be better business to fight another part-time in The Rock then or whether the full-timer John Cena should get the slot. One idea could be for a triple threat main event between The Rock vs John Cena vs Brock Lesnar. WWE originally wanted to name the main event by now for WrestleMania 29 but the uncertainty over what that main event will be will probably mean no official announcement or decision until November time.
