TNA Wrestling Losing Fans In The UK

Bad signs continue for TNA Impact Wrestling.

TNA Wrestling is losing fans in the United Kingdom, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, if declining viewership numbers are any concrete indication. On the last episode of Impact in August, the show drew 136,000 viewers on Challenge TV, which is down from 161,000 for the same week in 2014 and 235,000 viewers in 2013. The show has aired on the same station over the last three years, so it's not like there's anything to blame for it except a lack of interest in the product. For the most part, Impact was drawing about 200,000 viewers on Challenge TV for the past several years. It's another sign of the bad times that TNA has gone through this year. The on screen product really isn't that bad in terms of in-ring action, but there's been so much news about them in a negative light such as not paying employees on time and they completely cut off doing house shows aside from three of them coming up this weekend.
There have been some key injuries that have hurt the star power in TNA that have probably contributed to the lower viewership numbers. Both Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy - the two biggest stars in the company - have dealt with long term injuries. Without them in the ring, people are going to tune out. TNA is headed to the UK for their annual tour in late January 2016, but by that time they may not even be on television the US if Destination America decides to pull the plug on them.
