The Wrestling Observer noted this week that Brock Lesnar is still being advertised for WWE's upcoming (SmackDown exclusive) No Mercy pay-per-view on September 24.

Over the past few weeks, Paul Heyman has been pushing for Samoa Joe to get an extended reign as Universal Champion behind the scenes and rumours have been rife about Lesnar's exit from WWE due to Jon Jones challenging him to make a UFC return.

This has all left Brock's immediate WWE future up in the air, but advertising for No Mercy suggests 'The Beast' isn't going anywhere. Could this mean that Lesnar will actually retain the Universal Title in a main event Fatal-4-Way at SummerSlam after all?

Facing Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe on August 20, there's a chance Lesnar will remain Universal Champion for the foreseeable future and again defend the belt at No Mercy.

WWE have teased that Brock will leave the promotion should he drop the title at SummerSlam, but that could be little more than a tease designed to capitalise on the Jon Jones hype. The Observer expect any fight between Jones and Lesnar to take place in 2018 rather than 2017.
