Baron Corbin's unsuccessful Money in the Bank cash-in may not have been related to his recent social media controversies, according to new reports (via Reddit).

It was originally suggested that The Lone Wolf, who won the briefcase in June after a strong showing in his WrestleMania-season feud with Dean Ambrose, had upset his employers after biting back against his critics on Twitter.

Corbin responded to fans calling him out on his ring and promo work, along with wrestling critic Dave Meltzer, in the weeks leading up to his unexpected loss to Jinder Mahal on SmackDown Live in August.

After suffering a comprehensive defeat at the hands of John Cena at SummerSlam in the same week, it was then speculated that the pair may have fallen out, leading to his push being put on ice.

However, it has now been reported that the 33-year-old attracted heat backstage after contradicting WWE's wellness policy expert, Joseph Maroon, during a meeting about concussions.

Corbin, a football player before turning to professional wrestling in 2012, was said to have interrupted him multiple times, claiming the information he was giving them was incorrect.

The story's source, Mike Johnson of PWInsider, was keen to stress however that this may not have been the only factor behind his apparent demotion.
