Update On Jay White's NJPW Contract Situation - Is He WWE Bound?

Jay White To WWE Latest - Has his contract with NJPW really expired?

According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, Jay White told All Elite Wrestling in 2018 that he'd signed a seven-year deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Over the last week, it's been reported that WWE are heavily interested in White and are making a "strong play" to sign the NJPW star. This news dropped after White "quit" the promotion in the wake of his defeat at the hands of Kota Ibushi at day two of Wrestle Kingdom 15 in their IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championship match.

Now, Meltzer has shed some more light on the situation, though he confesses that he hasn't spoken to NJPW or White recently. However, he did mention that the star was courted by AEW when the company was first starting up back in late 2018, with the company's EVPs being aware of his talent due to being former Bullet Club members and seeing it up close for themselves.

Yet, it was said that White told AEW he had signed a seven-year deal with his current employers, making him unable to become All Elite. Whether or not this is true has still yet to be confirmed by White or NJPW, but it certainly adds another interesting layer to a compelling situation.
