Vince McMahon Insisted The Undertaker Had To Win At SummerSlam

McMahon was behind The Undertaker's victory.

It was Vince McMahon who felt The Undertaker had to win at SummerSlam, reports the wrestling observer newsletter. They had the idea to do the match, but McMahon was reluctant for either man to lose. As strongly as he felt about Taker winning, he also felt like he couldn't have Brock Lesnar losing. Hence why the controversial finish was booked. What it sounds like, is they came up with the match before they ever thought about a winner. That's not a good way of doing creative, as it ignores long term thinking. Once the decision was made that Undertaker was going over, they then had to figure out a way of doing it without beating Lesnar. They had booked themselves into a corner, but the screwy finish just about managed to get them out of it. The fact that this last match had such little thought put into it, chances are the third instalment is also underdeveloped. They clearly have in mind to do Lesnar Undertaker 3, but by the sounds of it they won't have thought about a result yet. It is believed that the match will take place at WrestleMania 32, possibly as the show closing main event on April 3rd next year.
