Vince McMahon Says A Chicago WrestleMania Is Possible

He was also asked about those CM Punk chants in Chicago.

Vince McMahon was honored with a Hall of Fame induction for the Boys & Girls Club of America in Chicago on Wednesday. He also took time to do an interview with the Chicago Tribune. When he was asked if Chicago could host another WrestleMania, McMahon seemed optimistic about it happening one day: "I wouldn't say Chicago is out of the running. We can do colder environments. We went to (MetLife) Stadium (in New Jersey). People wear coats to football. Why won't they were jackets and so forth to WrestleMania? They will. Chicago will definitely be in the running in the future." Chicago's outdoor stadium would likely be Soldier Field where the NFL's Bears play. It's an older stadium, but it would be their best choice in the city. McMahon mentioned the cold weather and it's definitely a factor. Late March or early April in Chicago could see even snow in the stadium too, which would make it an uncomfortable time although the ring would likely be covered for the performers. Rain is certainly a possibility. You just never know what you might get in the Windy City during that time of year. WWE has gone exclusively to major American football sized stadiums for WrestleManias since Detroit in 2007. Since they know they can fit at least 65,000 in a bigger stadium for a WrestleMania they are going to keep doing that every year. The last WrestleMania that took place in a basketball/hockey sized arena was actually WrestleMania 22 in Chicago in 2006. Chicago also was one of the three hosts for WrestleMania 2 and also was the host for WrestleMania 13, which was famous for the Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin match that is one of the best ever. Next year's WrestleMania, which is #32 even though McMahon doesn't like using the numbers anymore, is in Dallas. The year after that is heavily rumored to be in Minneapolis in their new stadium with a roof although it's far from a lock. After that, there are all kinds of cities rumored for it, so Chicago could be in the mix for that. https://twitter.com/StephMcMahon/status/598692957139685376 During the Hall of Fame ceremony, McMahon was also asked if he was bothered by "CM Punk" chants at events in Chicago. He replied with a simple "no" and moved on. When WWE is in Chicago they usually get the Punk chants while often times they turn down the volume of the crowd when that happens. Vince likely isn't bothered by it and if he was he probably wouldn't say it. Elsewhere in the article, McMahon stated that he usually doesn't take time to look back on the past. He's always thinking about tomorrow and the day after that, which is no surprise considering his incredible work ethic. Congratulations again to Vince McMahon on his Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame induction.
