Vince McMahon Snaps Up Creative And Live Event Talent In WWE Hiring Spree

WWE enhance several divisions in attempt to arrest multiple slides...

WWE have hired several new writers and live event coordinators in an effort to shore up key areas of the organisation, PWInsider reports.

The signings were noted by Vince McMahon in the Q1 Stockholder call last week, and have since been confirmed to include additions to departments that have recently been fleshed out with the inclusion of Jeff Jarrett, Bruce Prichard and Dana Warrior.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported that former NBC and MTV writer Michael James Nelson will join TruTV's Andrea Kail on a refreshed line-up including the aforementioned three as part of further changes following WrestleMania 35. Brian 'Road Dogg' James stepped down from the SmackDown Head Writer's post following the 'Show Of Shows' as part of the continued upheaval.

Live events too will see changes made, with marketing managers from Cirque du Soleil (Stephanie Stevens) and the Houston Sports Authority (Jules Rice) added to a division headed up by Michael Hayes and Steve Corino.

The Stockholder conference call couldn't sugarcoat downward-trending graphs on some of WWE's key business metrics, with ratings, merchandise sales and live event gates all falling significantly below expectations based on this time last year. The company had already suggested that changes to house shows would be forthcoming - these latest hires may be the first statement of intent.
