Vince Russo Believes WWE & AEW Are Secretly Working Together

The former WWE, WCW and Impact head writer has a crazy theory on what really is going on.

This past Monday, Vince Russo appeared on the Great North Wrestling Podcast (hosted by Hannibal) and discussed the rise of AEW as a rival to WWE.

The former head writer for WWE during the peak of the Attitude Era and later WCW stated that "either [the two promotions WWE and AEW] are working together or Vince McMahon is totally incompetent", saying that the second scenario doesn't seem to be the case.

Russo explains his theory using three main arguments. First, he states that "[WWE] has done it before" with ECW. Paul Heyman kept playing the role of the oppressed on TV, even though in Russo's eyes it was a work with McMahon. Russo recalls that "the boys didn't know", which he claims has been confirmed by Jim Ross and Bruce Prichard at various times.

Secondly, the re-hiring of Prichard after a ten-year absence from the company raised his eyebrows to the reality of what was really going on. Russo affirms that Brother Love was the bridge between Heyman and McMahon and makes a parallel with Conrad Thompson, the host of Prichard's podcast Something to Wrestle with Prichard, and his relationship with the AEW crew. Thompson has denied any contract with AEW, but stated, in an interview with WrestlingInc, that his role was of a "friend".

Also, Russo considers that Prichard's creative job with Impact didn't help them and since his return, there have been no creative changes in WWE, which could be a sign that he is actually doing something else.

Finally, the mentioning of AEW on WWE TV, with Sami Zayn acknowledging the promotion on May 27th edition of Raw, after the Double Or Nothing event, is considered proof, for Russo, of the collaboration between the two companies.
