Wale has been drafted in as the host of a rap battle between The Usos and The New Day on SmackDown Live.

The segment, a pre-cursor to their tag team title bout at Battleground in three weeks time, will feature on the Independence Day edition of SmackDown, with Wale - a purported wrestling fanatic - appointed to preside over the contest.

The rapper, clearly excited about his upcoming appearance inside the squared circle, told participants to "keep it clean" on Twitter, but maintaining order between two famously unpredictable teams seems a tough ask for the 32-year-old, 4th of July or not.

In response, Big E announced he was happy with the appointment of an "impartial" host like Wale - although it remains to be seen whether he will call it down the middle.

Whilst rapping (more to the point, wrestling rapping) isn't to everyone's taste, this week's SmackDown is shaping up to be a bumper edition. A battle royal to crown a new number one contender for Kevin Owens' US title has also been confirmed for the show, which comes from Phoenix.

Throw in John Cena's first appearance in months, and a Women's title bout between Naomi and Lana, and it seems like WWE are gearing up for a packed Tuesday night.
