It looks like the WWE Championship clash pitting Brock Lesnar against Royal Rumble 2020 winner Drew McIntyre will headline WrestleMania 36.

This is according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, who believes that WWE will go down the traditional route of having the WWE Champion defend his strap against the Rumble kingpin in the last match of the night on 5 April.

McIntyre vs. Lesnar is the only bout to be officially confirmed for this year's 'Showcase of the Immortals' so far. A grudge match between Edge and Randy Orton also appears to be in the works and would likely have been a major candidate to headline as well. Universal Champion 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns, Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler, and NXT Champion Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair are also thought to be in WWE's plans.

Last year saw WWE break convention by placing the Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair Triple Threat in the main event slot. 'The Man' took that victory, pinning 'Rowdy' in a botched finish, capturing the Raw and SmackDown Women's Titles. Lesnar, meanwhile, had to settle for the opener.
