Unsurprisingly, The Rock is reportedly WWE's number one choice to partner Ronda Rousey in her in-ring bow at WrestleMania 34.

Rousey, who debuted at the Royal Rumble last month and will sign her contract at Elimination Chamber next Sunday, is said to be preparing for an intergender tag team match opposite Stephanie McMahon and Triple H in New Orleans. The identity of her partner, however, remains the subject of much debate online.

According to Sports Illustrated, officials are desperate to fill the role with the so-called People's Champion, who has appeared in the squared circle sporadically since his semi-retirement in 2003. Having since grown into one of Hollywood's biggest stars, he is clearly the perfect man to help bring in some mainstream interest.

But the 45-year-old's movie commitments could yet scupper the company's plans. It is thought that contracts to which he is currently bound preclude him from partaking in physical activity that carries a high risk of injury (hence his last match - against Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32 - only went six seconds).

Should plans for The Rock fail, Rousey could instead be paired with Raw general manager Kurt Angle, SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon, or "outsider" Seth Rollins, all of whom have an obvious axe to grind with HHH and Steph.
