WWE: 10 Best "Worked Shoot" Promos Ever

10. Matt Hardy On Edge And Lita

The Matt Hardy vs Edge feud of 2005 is the perfect first example of a worked feud fuelled by real personal fury. It was well known that Matt had been dating women's wrestler Lita for many years. Apparently Hardy's best friend Adam 'Edge' Copeland didn't really take that on board though, as when Hardy went out injured in early 2005 an illicit affair developed between Edge and Lita. Hardy was devastated when this came out, even more so when he was released from the WWE shortly thereafter. To many fans, this stank of unfairness €“ Hardy had lost his girlfriend, best friend and job. Matt wasted little time in using the internet to shoot on the incident. On WWE TV fan chants of "You screwed Matt" started to follow Edge and Lita everywhere. It became so big that the WWE could no longer ignore it, to exploit the situation they secretly signed Hardy back to work a shoot. The angle started off brilliantly, Hardy invading Raw in a seemingly real barrier jump in which he told fans to "watch Ring of Honor ROH." The blurring of reality continued, Edge going off script on Raw to "talk about the thing we aren't meant to talk about", and Hardy ringing up WWE's Byte This talkshow to chastise Lita. The whole thing culminated in the shoot promo featured in the video above. It had been a great angle that exploited the real situation to create a must watch show. Unfortunately for Hardy, his lack of charisma meant the whole thing died a death shortly after being brought back. He could have been what CM Punk was in 2011, but just didn't have the ability to fully pull it off.
