WWE: 10 Best "Worked Shoot" Promos Ever

2. Paul Heyman One Night Stand

It tells you everything you need to know about Paul Heyman's skill as a character worker that he makes this list twice. His 2005 ECW One Night Stand worked shoot was more television gold for smart wrestling fans. As well as referencing various subjects that were off limits, Paul spoke to the audience like he was one of them. He was not one of Vince McMahon's employees, he was an ECW guy. "My eyes aren't watering, I've just been smoking a joint in the back with Van Dam," Heyman declared to set the tone of his none-corporate mentality. He then turned his attention to the WWE superstars in attendance, hilariously speaking out in a way that no one had dared on a WWE broadcast before. Heyman no doubt meant every word when he said to Eric Bischoff, "in case you haven't noticed it isn't Paul Heyman with his tail between his legs going to a WCW show, you are in our house bit*h!" "Hide your wives, it's Edge," Heyman went on, "I know no-one with a written promo has the balls to say this to you, but I have two words for you, Matt freaking Hardy." It was a hilarious detour into reality, the first time it had been referenced on WWE TV what Edge had done to Hardy. JBL got Heyman's attention next, in a dig that also referenced Triple H's abuses of power that were so hotly discussed on the internet. "If you want to shoot cowboy," Heyman said to Bradshaw, "the only reason you were WWE Champion for a year is because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays." As Heyman rounded off his promo with the line "this is E-C- Fu**ing- W", it summed up the perfect worked promo. Surely he was going to take heat in the locker room for all of that €“ this wasn't just a playful promo, this was way off the norm. Heyman had done his job, the audience didn't know where the reality and story started or finished.
