WWE: 15 Best Sheamus Matches (So Far)

Let's count them down fella...

WWE.comWWE.comOn June 30, 2009, Sheamus was introduced to the WWE Universe on WWE's ECW brand. He quickly outgrew the Land of Extreme and jumped ship to Raw by the end of the year, winning the WWE Championship from John Cena in shocking fashion at the TLC pay-per-view. Since there, Sheamus' long list of accolades include him winning the WWE title on two occasions, the World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship twice along with becoming the 2010 King of the Ring and the 2012 Royal Rumble winner. After spending years as a hated heel, Sheamus' embarked on a new path as a fan favorite in the summer of 2011. Within a matter of months, The Celtic Warrior's corny one-liners about his Irish family heritage would grow old and tiresome, causing the Internet Wrestling Community to turn on him rather quickly. All these years later, Sheamus' character is still staler than a month-old piece of bread. He is in desperate need of a change in character and a heel turn could be solution to that problem. That said, fans should take nothing away from Sheamus' amazing abilities in the ring. He's one of WWE's most underrated workers in that simply because his character isn't clicking at the moment, some fans take his stellar skills in the ring for granted. From Daniel Bryan to John Cena to Randy Orton, Sheamus has had excellent matches against almost every member of the roster. He's had countless classics in his five years on the main roster and this list will attempt to break down 15 of them.

15. Vs. Goldust (ECW; September 1, 2009)

WWE.comWWE.comUpon his arrival in ECW in 2009, Sheamus squashed several local athletes, but quickly came to the conclusion that he needed better competition. He then set his sights on Goldust, who had just recently been traded to the Tuesday night program. Despite coming up short against Sheamus on two separate occasions, Goldust kept coming back for more. Goldust handed Sheamus his first loss in singles competition on the August 13 edition of WWE Superstars, leading to a rematch two weeks later on ECW. When that bout ended in a double count-out, a fifth and final match was made official for the September 1 ECW being contested under no disqualification rules. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bik6JOuLpjE The two ruthless rivals worked a highly competitive contest that saw them battle all around ringside. Once the action returned to the ring, Sheamus put Goldust away with a Brogue Kick to conclude their feud once and for all. This series of matches helped put Sheamus on the map, eventually leading him to bigger and better things on Raw a few months later.
