19. Michaels Meets Jeritron (June 9 2008)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhBNkqVIQPM Jerichos 2007 was mildly disappointing. There I said it. Im a huge Jericho fan, and unfortunately it wasnt the ground breaking, epic event that I was hoping for. Although I liked the interrupting of Randy Ortons LITERAL passing of the torch, the resulting feud with Randy and next one with JBL left me feeling a little underwhelmed. Jerichos matches were still world class, but he needed to add something to his character so as not to be look out of touch. It wasnt long before Jericho became involved in a great storyline to show exactly how relevant he could be. Shawn Michaels, fresh from retiring Ric Flair, was in a mini feud with Batista, wherein he promised he would beat Batista by any means necessary. Jericho inserted himself as the referee in the match, and despite being a face, Michaels feigned a knee injury to lure Batista in and allow him to win the match. Jericho wasnt happy with the lying Michaels, and the two had a match that Michaels won at Judgment Day. The following night on Raw, Jericho invited Shawn to be his guest on the Highlight Reel. He expressed his disappointment that Shawn was still getting cheered, despite admitting his lies, while Jericho was getting booed. And with that, he low blowed HBK and sent him face first into the Jeritron 5000 (which is worth more than most of your homes.) This was Jerichos first time as a heel since 2005 and started one of the best periods of his career, resulting in a great series of segments and matches against Shawn Michaels over the next few months.
