4. Establish Synchronization Between Departments
The Miz is starring in a feel-good holiday movie called The Christmas Bounty. Wonderful! Except the Creative Team decided to turn him heel the week before the movie's release. It served up a one-two punch of not making any sense, AND probably deterred kids from wanting to see the movie. That guy just betrayed Kofi! This recent snafu illustrates a desperate need for better communication between teams at WWE. It also shows a lapse in long-term planning, but I'll cover that later. There has been an increasingly-apparent gap between the Creative team and the wrestlers. Legend has it that the shows have always been written and re-written up until the last minute, but it seems to be getting worse than ever. If the writing team is under pressure to deliver (and re-deliver), the quality of the writing goes down, and the wrestlers are ill-prepared for the show. How often does it appear that Randy Orton isn't entirely sure what to say (possibly a reflection on Orton, but he's not the only one)? And the lines between the good guys and bad have become so fluid that you can tell they don't always know how to conduct themselves during a match. If the wrestlers don't know what's going on, how can fans buy into what's happening, or feel compelled to care? Kane needs to schedule meetings at which all department heads can make their plans known, but more importantly, get their plans in synch. Furthermore, he needs to establish a deadline for each show, after which no creative changes can be made. Good luck, Kane!
